Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior training to participate in this training?

No, it is easier to create an understanding in a participant with no training than it is to retrain them. Old habits are hard to break. For those with prior training, an open mind and a willingness to explore new concepts is required.

Do I need to be in shape?

No, this training is not based on athleticism. It was developed to be utilized by everyone – regardless of size, strength or sex.

I have a bad back, can I still participate?

All training sessions have been designed to accommodate all levels of fitness or lack thereof. You will never be placed in a position that will compromise your physical tolerances.

Will I get hurt?

Utmost care is given in creating a safe training environment void of ego or tempers. However, as with all contact training, there is a slight risk of injury. We live by the rule that if you break your toys, you’ll have nothing to play with.

What do I need for training?

Class needs will be dependent on which training topic you sign up for. A list of required “tools” will be supplied upon acceptance to the session.

What do I wear?

You will train in your street clothes, the same attire you wear daily.

What is the difference between “on-going ” and “per course” training?

“On-going” training is signing up for a specific amount of time which includes a variety of training topics at a reduced price.

What is a “Lifer”?

After you have trained consistently for 2 years, you are considered a “Lifer”.

Why do I need to fill out an application?

In my attempt to filter out those with a domestic violence and/or a felony conviction, I am requiring an application be filled out to give me the means to identify and prevent the sharing of information. My goal is to help you gain the advantage not share it.

How do I sign up?

1.    Complete the training application located below the “Frequently asked questions” in the “Training – CIV” side bar and send.

2.    Your app will be evaluated and you will be notified upon approval and acceptance.

3.   As class sizes are limited, a $50.00 deposit will reserve your spot in the session.  You may pay by Master Card or  Visa on the “Training – CIL” page.  This deposit is non-refundable.

4.     Once I have received your deposit, you will be contacted by email with all pertinent details.

5.     The balance for the training session is due prior to the beginning of the training session.

6.     Get mentally ready to TRAIN!!!

What could keep me from being accepted as a training participant?

A felony and/or domestic violence conviction will negate your option to train at BASETAC. A background check may be performed to verify a training application. If you possess a valid handgun carry permit, you will only need to fill out an info sheet.
